Relationships come with their share of challenges, and learning to maneuver through them isn't always easy. Some people are quick to give up on the relationship or resign themselves to losing passion. Still, you may be able to overcome those difficulties and live together happily when you visit Urgent Care Counseling to see psychotherapist Richard Fincke, LMHC.   Online appointments for Florida residents are available.

Understanding Your Struggles

Some couples aren't quite aware of what's leading to their troubles. They know they're fighting and are feeling distant from one another, but they aren't sure how to bridge the gap and improve their communication. Or perhaps the hurdle they must overcome is infidelity, or a past trauma that is making it hard for them to connect to their partner. These are difficult challenges to face, especially alone. Couples counseling from a trained therapist can help you determine what you need from a relationship and how you and your partner can care for each other, build a stronger relationship, and resolve conflict.

Preventing Problems in the Future

If your relationship has weathered storms well or has never faced a serious challenge, that doesn't necessarily mean you can push past everything that arises. Especially over time, one partner in the relationship can feel taken advantage of. They may feel like most of the money is coming from them, or they're taking the lead on child-rearing without any assistance. While these don't seem major at first, they can fester.

Therapy, however, helps you prevent issues in the future from reaching a crisis point. A counselor can also help you anticipate problems that could pop up and establish a protocol for dealing with them. By learning communication and listening skills, a couple can speak openly and honestly while genuinely hearing what the other person has to say.

How We Help Work Through Problems

A therapist will help both of you understand your feelings without judgment. You'll practice recognizing when a conversation isn’t productive, take breaks, and come back when you’re feeling ready to engage co-operatively. You'll learn more about what the other needs to feel safe and fulfilled. Specific techniques may be used to help with certain challenges, like infidelity or intimacy issues.

Online telehealth couples therapy is available with the professional providers of Urgent Care Counseling. You'll receive a customized experience to strengthen your relationship.
