ABOUT JONATHAN PAWSON
Jonathan Pawson MDiv, MA Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern
I see counseling as both an honor and a privilege for the opportunity to share space
with a client and begin an exploration, with the goal being to discover inner strengths to
empower for healing and life prosperity. These strengths are value-based and drive one
through any barriers the client may encounter. This journey with my clients is done in a
safe and non-judgmental environment where we can work through these difficult issues
and reach their personal goals.
My clinical method is a multi-modality approach, consisting primarily of: Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family
Systems (IFS). Within these models, I integrate positive psychology where we focus on
hope, encouragement, and gratitude along with mindfulness. My clients will find that I
incorporate a team approach on this journey, where we celebrate victories along this
therapeutic path together. My experiences in counseling derives from working with
anxiety, depression, PTSD/CPTSD/trauma, grief, and relational conflicts.
Jonathan is a registered mental health counseling intern. He earned his Master’s in
Counseling from Liberty University and Master’s in Divinity from Andrews University. He
is currently obtaining his PhD in Developmental Psychology, with a concentration in
attachment and trauma treatment with Neurofeedback.
Before obtaining his counseling degree, he worked as a pastor for over 17 years, which
gave him the experience to work closely with individuals and families from all walks of
life. He has been trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal
Family Systems (IFS) and is a certified clinical trauma specialist CCTS-1.
Jonathan served in the Army and has experience with veterans and their spouses. His
greatest passion is his family and loves to spend time with his three adult children and
wife of 25 years.
